Anglers' Wedding

Barbara Reese and Don Yager met when Barbara joined a class for women anglers in April 1998. Over the next eighteen months, Don and Barbara got to know each other during fishing clinics and Women on the Fly meetings. Eventually a trip to the Green River in Utah sparked their relationship into high gear. True to their creative and energetic natures, they created a themed wedding in the Renaissance period.

Over six months, Barbara and Don created the costumes, communiques and decorations for the rehearal dinner, wedding ceremony and medieval feast.

Guests appeared in costume and were treated to self portaits to take home.
Women on the Fly members toasted the couple with special courting memories.
Barbara hand painted the 28' harlequin runner and Don crafted harlequin boxes.
Barbara's son, Bill, escorted her down the aisle and presented Don with the family sword during the ceremony.
Two angler friends appeared as comics and roasted the couple during the medieval feast.

Table arrangements included sheaves of wheat, topiaries of turkey and guinea feathers and harlequin boxes of peacock and pheasant feathers.
Our favorite part of the wedding
was having our families take part...
Especially Don's mother
who came from Center, Missouri.
Our favorite photograph from Valentine's Day 2000.
